Hi, over the last couple of weeks Internet Explorer has decided to stop
responding. Is this a general problem or am I the only one?

I don't seem to be doing anything unusual when it happens. Sometimes simply
switching tabs causes the freeze.

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Does it happen if you start IE without Addons. Right click IE's desktop icon
and choose Start Without Addons or type in Start's search box
iexplore.exe -extoff
..

It would help to know which version of IE you have. This page may help
if you have IE7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936214

You can also try this if you have IE8:
* Go to Start > Run
* Type iexplore -extoff
* Press Enter

and see if it still locks up on you.

I have IE8 installed and I have tried the fix from the Microsoft site, I
will see if that sorts it.
Thank you all for your help

If posting in the Vista newsgroup then the OP has IE8 since Vista is installed. Most
probably from this known issue the OP has some sort of malware and should run the
following first and then post back with result

SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/

MalwareBytes
http://www.malwarebytes.com/

After performing a full scan with one and then the other and removing
whatever they both find completely, you may uninstall these products,
if you wish.

Download and run the MSRT manually:

Reboot.
