Hi Krista
You may have a hijacker, malware, spyware or parasites on your system
causing this problem. In addition to running your updated anti-virus
program, you should do the following to be sure none of these are present on
your system. Some variants of malware can replicate themselves over and
over if not removed properly. While you may have run McAfee, it is an
Anti-virus program, and therefore, will not be able to detect or clean other
types of scumware. Please follow all instructions carefully to be sure your
system is thoroughly cleaned:

Be sure to run CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot.
Also be sure to use the HijackThis. Please do not post your log to this
newsgroup, but to the SpywareInfo or the Aumha HiJackThis forums
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30, to allow the experts there to
evaluate your log and advise you of the necessary steps to clean your
system.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:

(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

I too am havin the same issue. When I click IE from my programs and I
already have IE open the new window opens, but the window I already
had open closes. So the end result is I can only have 1 IE widnow
open at a time and sometimes a site that I am "logged" into such as
ebay suddenly is gone. Becuase a new window opens and my original
window is closed, the use of the "Back" button is not available.
This is very frustrating. I am running Windows XP. I noticed this
problem after running the latest windows update also. I have no idea
what changed, and I cannot find a setting to unset to correct the
problem. I did order the SP2 CD from Microsoft for XP, but have not
installed it yet.
I am running the latest McAfee internet security and virus software.
I have run the program to scan for spyware and the likes. Nothing
was found.
If anyone knows what could be causing this, their suggestions are
welcome.
Thank you,
Krista

Hi Conor
Help please,
When I open a new window, either by going to File and New and Window
or even by double clicking the IE icon on the desktop or even in the
Quick Launch bar I can only keep one IE window open at a time. I
scanned for Spyware/ Adware with Ad-Aware SE earlier today and there
was nothing returned. I also scanned for viruses - luckily no
viruses present. This is starting to annoy me. I have XP SP 2
installed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try the following and see if it helps:
Open Multiple Windows In IE
To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in
the main menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window,
click the X in the top right-hand corner or select Close from the
File menu. You can also open a new browser window with Ctrl+N.

You may have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another) pop-up blocker, etc. You'll have to
uninstall the program or turn off the feature that's blocking new
windows.
With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click
will allow a new window.
