internet explorer issues

To any who can help:
Internet explorer will not close nor will any pop-ups. I
have to use the task manager to get out of internet
explorer. I can minimize things but after a while, it
gets bogged down and too slow to use - even though I have
cable - erg!

Can you help?

Disable the tool bands and Browser Helper Objects features:

1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
6. Restart Internet Explorer.

These steps change the value data for the "Enable Browser Extensions" String
value to "No" in the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
