Whenever I open Microsoft Internet explorer it takes at
least 20 seconds to open up. The browsing is fine but
every time I attempt to open it or have open a new window
it takes a ridiculous amount of time. Can anyone help me
out?

Do you happen to have a lot of entries in the Favorites folder? If you have
a lot of entries under Favorites that can be a cause or if you have a
sub-folder of Favorites with a lot of entries in which case you might try
organizing those into smaller sub-folders.

I organized the favorites and there was no difference.
So I cleared all of the favorites and once again there
was no difference. I read that it may have been adware,
but I ran AdAware and Norton and had no progress. Please
let me know if you have any more ideas.

If you have indexing turned on, it is by default turned on in XP, you might
try turning it off, rebooting and see if you still have the problem. Open
Windows Explorer, right click the C drive, select properties and remove the
check from "Allow indexing, then reboot and see what happens.

If that doesn't resolve it, open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, select
Internet Options, go to the Advanced tab, remove the check from "Check for
publisher's certificate revocation," click apply and ok, reboot and see if
that resolves the issue.

Have you cleaned out your temporary internet files lately? Cleared history?
Try Internet Explorer -- tools -- internet options -- general tab --
delete files -- clear history. Good luck! Phil
