Help! I keep getting a box that states "Internet Explorer
has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" when I
am online. It is VERY annoying and I can't figure out
what is causing this....Happens repeatedly whenever I am
online. I am running Windows XP. PLEASE keep your
answers in the "basic moron" category for me as I know
nothing about PC's! Mary

I doubt that you're a basic moron, and I will make this suggestion: Start to
learn about how your computer works. No need to become an engineer, but if
you continue to "know nothing about PC's" you will find yourself over your
head in frustration before you know it.

"How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP"

Might be a good idea to have someone more knowledgable do this for you.

Hi,

It is possible that your PC has been infected by the W32
Blaster worm.

Try this way:

Click start/My Computer/Control Panel
Click the Administrative Tools icon and then click the
Services icon.
In the right pane, navigate to "Remote Procedure Call
(RPC)" and double click (Care: NOT "Remote Procedure Call
(RPC) Location")
In the open window, click the Recovery tab.
In the new open window:
First Failure, select "Restart the Service"
Second Failure, select "Restart the Service"
Subsequent Failures, select "Restart the Service"
Then click the "Apply" and "OK" button
Now, reboot the computer and you should go on-line
without problems.
Go to windows update site to download the critical update
patches to resolve the problems.
However, I would suggest you to go to symantec.com to
have an on-line security check for your system as your PC
may be infected by more than one virus. Then download the
virus removal tools and run the tools as instructed by
symantec.
After your PC is cleaned, revert the RPC settings as
before; that is set all the failures to "Restart the
Computer"

To prevent virus attack, make sure you must always have
the latest virus definitions for your antiVirus softwares.

Hope it helps.

Peter

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

&

Adaware (similar)

(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)
