Hello,

I am running Windows XP Home Edition on my Dell Laptop Inspiron E1505. My
internet explorer has been working fine but in the past two or three days it
has begun running very slowly. Is there anything that I can do to help fix
the problem?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

Actually, i could not understand the question.

1. Is you internet connection speed is slow.
2. Is you internet browser is slow can i know if u are trying to access
localhost

If the internet connection is slow, better be in touch with your Internet
Service provider.

I apologize for not providing all the necessary information to assist me in
solving my problem. My internet explorer is 6.0 and my service provided
(road runner) speed is ok, the slowness is with explorer 6.0. Sometimes I
cannot open the browser but more than likely when the browser opens it just
seems to take longer than it did a few weeks ago. I have deleted the temp
files, cookies and history which haven’t helped. In addition, I have run my
adware and spyware program (Lavasoft) to assure that I wasn’t being bogged
down due to unintended spy or ad ware installations.

So what I am saying is Internet Explorer 6.0 is what is running slow.

Regards,
Lowell

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? Is your
subscription current?

What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender and Ad-Aware)?

What third-party firewall is installed (if any)?

Is Automatic Updates enabled and is the machine fully patched, to the best
of your knowledge?

My antivirus software us TrendMicro – PC-cillin Internet Security 14, and the
only spyware that I am running is bit defender. I have no third party
firewall installed, and I have my computer set to receive automatic updates.

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
