Internet Explorer Icon

After i downloaded and installed the Windows XP SP2 my Internet Explorer Icon
disappeared off of my desktop and out of the tray!! I can't find it
anywhere, any ideas? I even dowloaded IE 7 and installed it...still no icon
to be found.

Please help.
 
Right click on desktop and go to properties, then the desktop tab. Click on
the button that says "customize desktop" and make sure there is a check mark
next to internet explorer under the top "desktop icons" section.

Right click on an Empty space on the Desktop and select properties.
On the Display properties click on Desktop Tab then click on Customize
Desktop button.
On Desktop Items windows click on General Tab and check mark this box under
Desktop Icons:
[ √ ] Internet Explorer.
Click [Apply] then [OK] to close the Display Window properties.

- Right click the Start Button and select properties.
On the taskbar and Start menu properties click on Start menu Tab then click
Customize button, click on General Tab and check this check box:
Show on Start Menu:
[ √ ] Internet: [ Internet Explorer ][v]
Select from the drop down list the IE as your Internet Explorer Browser.
Click [OK] then [OK] again and you should be done!.
