Internet Explorer has lost its version numbers

Internet Explorer has lost its version number, Cipher Strength, and Product
ID. I am using Windows XP. Does anyone know how to retrieve? Many of the
functions of IE have been lost. When I try to download version 6 SP 1 it
tells me I have a later version. SP2 will not open.
