Internet explorer has encountered an error

My internet explore comes up with an unexpected error and cloese down when i
try to type in a new adress or go to a new web page. I am running the
computer on windows 98. All solutions i have found have a module name in the
extra info you get when you press the "click here" text. When i the text,
looking under module name it just says "unknown". The solutions i have found
all contain module names like mshtml.dll. I have found no other posts with
this problem.

If you get Memory Cannot be read or written. As the name refer to, it is a
memory problem, some applications/programs
didn't release the memory in timely fashion causing the Error to be thrown by
the system error reporting tools.
Also it could be the work of malwares, badly written application installed
on your system including third party toolbars installed beside Internet
explorer, do you have other toolbars installed try to uninstall them, memory
gone bad or loose in their slots/dust also can cause this.
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malwares and Viruses by
scanning for them

3... You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion, i read through the list and tried all the solution
to no avail. I regularly clean up my computer with, antivirus anti spyware
and anti malware programs. I read through 100's of post and tried all
suggestions found, none seem to have worked and none seem to relate directly
to my problem. I tried a clean boot, but the problem persisted.

Tanks for the help i managed to figure out the problem though, my next step
would have been hijackthis. It seems my router was conflicting with my
antivirus program, i removed the autoprotect, which reactives itself every
time i restart the computer, and the problem stopped. I had to uninstall the
antivirus program in the end. Thanks for the help anyway.
