I keep receiving messages "the Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close" and then am
asked if I want to send an error report. Any ideas how to
fix this "glitch"? I'm running Windows 2000, IE 6.0 SP1.
thanks.

I don't know. This is happening for me too! Except now,
for me, I am unable to access any files on my computer,
cannot access My Computer or Windows Explorer, and it
gives me errors. Anyone have any answers????

Windows 2000 SP4?
IE 6.0 SP1

I'm having the same problem...IE 6, Win XP Pro
I just posted a detailed message about ten messages up...
maybe someone can help us with this problem.

Same problem here. Except I've been offered a link
to 'more information' Which takes me to a Microsoft page
telling me the problem is with Macromedia Flash Player.
I'm told I should verify that I have it correctly
installed and updated. I re-installed it without any
improvement. Also, while running IE 6.0 I will click on a
button or link and am told that the page is not available
offline. But when I look at the taskbar the 'connected'
icon is still there. If I pick up the phone line, I can
hear the connection. If I try to disconnect I'm ignored.
The only fix is to re-start the syatem. I'm running XP
Pro, on a Pentium III @ 933Mhz w/512MB memory, a Zoom V.92
PCI Voice/Faxmodem.

Tony thanks for the tip, I never get the link to 'more
information' I get the same problem with IE not knowing
I'm already connected sometimes. I've posted on this
board about fifteen messages up, and in two other help
forums, I'll paste any replies or help I get into this
thread, and my thread, too.

Same problem!!! posted a few PAGES back. Saw a similar
post that had a response that it could be Spyware on the
system. Recommended a couple of freeware sites to
download software to remove it. Was at one of the sites,
and got the same F**king message again!!! and had to start
over!!!
I'll let you all know if I find something that works!!!

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

Thanks for the help!
I got some advice from another board which is similar to
your suggestion (I think?)
He said to disable my virus software's 'webtrap'
component, which is the website activex and java
filtering app. I did this before I saw your advice and it
seemed to stop the errors. I did what you said to do,
too.. (double redundancy is good)
Thanks again :)
