For the last couple weeks, whenever I access hotmail with IE, it completely
locks up on me, to the point I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task. Mouse
pointer will still move, but I cannot click on ANYTHING in that window.
Status bar reads DONE and I can see the complete page though. This problem
only happens while on hotmail site, no problems anywhere else. Extrememly
odd. I use Firefox to check my hotmail and there are no problems at all. I
have erased all cookies/cache/history etc., deleted plug-ins, run
spyware/virus checkers, still no success. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem....IE6 (Win XP Pro SP2) keep freezing only on
MSN Hotmail site, not at the login page but after 3 or 4 page changes.

My McAffee Antivirus and Firewall always kept updated and running.

AD Aware SE 1.05 also.

No virus, worm or malware detected during scans.

I really don’t know what to do. Is it Hotmail or a virus. Thinking or
reformatting C: and do a fresh Win XP Pro install.

Thanks for your help.

Your not the only one with this really bothersome problem. Mine stated last
sunday after there upgrade. I can't even view my hotmail messages the whole
page freezes and you have to ctrl alt delete , 900 times just to get the end
program now window to pop up. I have ran very type of spywear progarm out
there and come up clean , anti virus is the same way. The computer is clean
and I even re installed IE 6 and still nothing. There has to be a fix from
Microsoft for this or atleast help us out. If any of you find a fix, Plz let
us all know.

It also happens to me since last week. I also notice in my message
from MAILER-DAEMON@telkom.. and suspect this is the rouge; taking ove
control of the webpage. (try and delete M-D@telkom before everythin
locks up) I can sometimes beat it by setting the security high and als
not accepting scripting - I have made scripting a manually accepte
action by me and I always say NO to it.

Have also checked and updated all outstanding patches from Microsof
but it doesn't seem much better

I was having th eexact same problem. I did a google search to see i
anybody else was having the problem (hotmail freezing only) and foun
tha tmany had success by first opening MSN messanger (hhhmmmm
suspicious??) or by uninstalling it. I did both and Hotmail hasn'
froze since.

Good luck!

For those who still have problems with Hotmail and that have MS
Messenger on thier computer...

Go in Tools > Internet Options>

Click on "Security", select "Internet" and then "Custom Level"
Searche for "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and disable it.

Disabling this will prevent Hotmail from showing the MSN Messenge
status near your email adress on your hotmail account. If it i
disabled, MSN Messenger wont be asked to run which is most-likely th
cause of the problem.

Try it and tell if it works. It worked for me and I want to see if i
can work for other people. Thx

Yes, its MSN Messenger causing the problems.
Either uninstall, leave ON, or leave off but in your tray (what I do).

other programs apart from IE without your permission, hmm, hmm. Ou
bound connections, hmm, microsoft, hmm other programs, hmm spyware. hm
