Since installed a new C:/ HDD and reinstalled everything including the XP SP2
update (full version), IE keeps hanging 9/10 times or occassionally returning
some errors on websites. Most errors are script related (java?) and others I
have no idea, no error msgs. This happens when loading pages. I have been to
WUD and nothing left to install.

It's that annoying, I've installed Opera and use that now but some sites
don;t display.

A fix will be terrific.

Check your event viewer to see if there are any application or system errors.
They will have identifying error numbers and sources. Those would be very
helpful.

I'm having a similar problem with ie. Everytime I try to open a new window
or click on a link it hangs. I have an application hang error "fault bucket
126637809"
I've searched and am unable to come up w/ anything.

Check you MTU settings on your router....typically set to 1458 or
above....knock it down to 1400 or below and see if that helps

My problem is somewhat different but it is driving me crazy and making work
on the pc nearly intolerable. It seems that ever since the last update, IE
hangs on programs and freezes up - sometimes even when I click C-A-D it will
not re-boot my machine and on some occassions the only way I could get out of
the hang, was to shut off my pc manually. I am having application hangs with
programs I have been using right along and it seems this problem only started
up shortly after the most recent update or patch. I have tried everything
and I am virus free, spyware, malware free - I can find no reason such as
this for the hangs.

I am using Windows XP have SP2 installed and have never had problems after
that installation but whatever was contained in this last update is driving
me crazy.

Please someone help!

Thank you.

Hi Jeanne :-)

Try uninstalling the last update and see if that stops the problem. Or, do
a System eretore to the date prior to your installing the update if
possible, and see if that solves the problem. If so, then perhaps you did
not get a good install of the update and need to try installing it again.

Hope this helps.

In addition to Jan's suggestion....

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need
updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the
latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your
hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these
work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated:

Or the Java VM: Microsoft's -

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all
files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
