internet explorer going haywire

Hello, about 2 months ago i started getting way too many popups when opening
IE. Most were for programs to help rid my computer of viruses etc. I have
stopped using IE and am using mozilla. I tried to uninstall IE and thought i
had as it no longer appears on the add/remove programs, but i still get IE to
open when i log onto AIM. how do i get rid of these pop ups or IE altogether
so i can download IE 7.0 and start clean again?

No need to uninstall Internet Explorer at all. Use any number of free
software applications that can help protect your system. Google for the
following software:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy
AdAware SE Personal Edition
Zone Alarm Free Edition
Windows Defender

You may have to do a repair install of IE.
