Internet Explorer Freezing Up

Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes when I am surfing the Internet
and clicking on links to various pages, Internet Explorer seems to freeze
anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds...just to load a simple website...from time to
time. I'm not sure if I accidentally removed something during a Microsoft
AntiSpyware scan or what? Any help would be great.

Hi Chris :)

You don't mention which version of Windows you have, or IE (SP1-SP2), but,
try the following and see if it will help:

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

also...

Download and install the Windows script engine 5.6 here:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/scriptdb.htm
or..
You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/default.asp?contentid=28001169
or
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

or….

Exit all programs that are running.
Click Start>Run>then copy and paste the following command into the window

regsvr32 /i urlmon.dll, and then click OK or hit enter.

You should see "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded", click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, then register all the following
commands by copying them into the window one at a time the same as you did
the regsvr32 /I urlmon.dll above, hitting enter and then Ok after each one.

Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

If the problem is still not resolved, verify that the following registry
values are
present and correct:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Name: (Default)
Value: IDispatch
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid32
Name: (Default)
Value: {00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

If still no joy........

First, download and install BHODemon from
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Your problem may be caused by a bad BHO.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third
party browser extensions." That should allow IE to work.
If this allows IE to work properly, then you have some form of malware or
pests on your system.
Follow the information here to clean your system:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

Hope this helps :)

Jan...

I have Windows XP Home Edition (SP2) and the latest version of IE. I'll
take a look at your suggestions this week. Thanks!

Chris
