internet explorer encounted error and must shut down

I did updates on my dell windows xp and also installed a
washer and pop up washer. Now when I try to get on
internet, it tells me that the internet explorer has
encounted an error and must shut down

Dear Janet,
I am experiencing the same thing. I have already re-
loaded xp three times...apparently this means that the
file is corrupt ;-(, please let me know when you find a
solution to the problem ;-(

Janet,
It is almost certain that another program is causing this. Disable your
"washer" and pop-up blocker programs. See if one of them is causing this.

If not... this is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware,
spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ Fix items listed in red. Others are
optional.
