Whenever i try to download using IE6 i get a white box
with small blue, red and white symbols in it. can anyone
explain what this is? thanks

What do the blue, white & red symbols look like? and do
you get any kind of message with them? If so, what?

Very 'patriotic' tho ... lol

Thanks for the reply.

In the top left hand corner of the screen i get a small
white square enclosing an even smaller red square, blue
triangle and black circle.

Any ideas?

One quick question. Is this icon related to a particular
download, or does it happen often? Can you tell me what
you were d/ling when you saw this?

I've been looking, but need a little more info ...

Hi, thanks for bearing with me on this one.

It happens on all downloads but only started after i
decided to ditch Download Accelerator Plus as i read
there's loads of spyware assosciated with that programme.
i've checked my registry and there aren't any traces
left. at the moment my only source of downloads is Opera,
so i'm wondering if there's some sort of conflict with IE?

I was checking to see if that icon was related to DAP,
didnt find anything yet; but, in the process I came across
this link that says DAP is safe (not spyware) .. thought
you might want to read. If you feel comfortable after
reading it, try to reinstall the software, and see if your
problem goes away.

If you don't feel safe ... sometimes software has other
names/abbreviations it goes by, when it attaches itself
inside the registry .. make sure you check all the
registry files. Did you a proper uninstall? By that I
mean, did you go through the Control Panel/Remove Change
programs .. and not just delete folders & files in Windows
Explorer?

Isn't Opera just a browser enhancer? I wouldn't think
that is your problem, if you didn't encounter problems
with that before. You can always uninstall, see if the
problem goes away, if not reinstall it (if you want to use
it).

I, personally, think you have a line hiding somewhere.
Have you checked your Sysedit files?

When you've tried these other avenues, why don't you email
me, so we dont have to get lost in more current postings,
and have to "hunt" for our post replies? Give good/brief
description in your subject line, so I don't delete it.

I'll keep looking for your icon / symbol.

IE?

Thanks for all the research you've put in on this. i
agree that trying to keep a tab on the thread is a real
problem!!

What i intend to do is read your link about DAP and if it
seems ok i'll re-install. perhaps i've been misled as to
the spyware situation. failing that, i intend to obtain
another download program like Fresh.

If all that fails i'm sure you'll see a new posting on
here in the not too distant future!

Again, thanks for the work you've put in on this.
