We use Outlook as the default mail client. A wide-spread
problem exists, where users clicking a mailto: link on a
website, receive an error that the default mail client is
not properly configured.

We can use the workaround of setting IE to use Outlook
Express, applying it, and setting it to use Outlook
again. All then works well for a time, then the error
crops up again.

We've tested using Group Policy to apply these settings,
but that hasn't helped. We're using Win2K SP3 and IE6
SP1. Regular users to Admins affected. Any help
appreciated...

Thanx, Joe

Joe:

This is not a Win2K problem. It is an IE problem and that is where you should post your
query, in an IE forum.

Thanx for the tip, however there isn't an IE6 group, so
it'd be difficult post it there.

If you have anything constructive to offer, I'd love to
hear it.

Sure there is: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser, and most
likely microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.outlookexpress as well.

How helpful, to place it under Windows instead of with all
the others in microsoft.public.inetexplorer, but you're
reply isn't really very helpful either. What's with all
you shortcut-pasting new-group-pointing people anyway? If
you don't have a constructive reply, don't...

If you don't think that telling you where you might get an answer to your
question isn't helpful, there's not much point in your posting at all.
