Internet Explorer crashes...Other (un)related errors, too. Help! :(

My problem is straightforward. Internet Explorer (6) crashes all the
time. Also, AOL Instant Messenger sometimes crashes. In both cases,
I get a windows error that asks me if I want to send the error report
to Microsoft. I have also had problems printing web pages/emails (in
Outlook Express 6). These problems come in the form of little windows
which read "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line:
1599 Char:1 Error: Array length must be a finite positive integer
Code: 0.

I have reformatted twice, and these problems continue. I have run IE
prior to installing any drivers manually. (Windows automatically
installed video, I think.)

This crashing started when I was running Windows 98. I installed XP
Home (upgrade ed.), but the problem has obviously continued. So I
think this may be hardware related. However, I don't think it's
memory related, since I just replaced my old memory with new memory,
which is compatible with the motherboard (according to the memory
mfr's (PNY) website. Could it be the motherboard or hard drive? Or
might this (hopefully) be a software/setting issue?

Thanks SOOO much for thinking about this one.

I used the Seagate tools but had no luck :(

The problem with cross-posting the universe is that many people who can
assist will assume that you have received help elsewhere and not bother
to respond. Besides that, it is both annoying and a breach of good
usenet etiquette.

I have a similar problem, but I don't think that it's hardware related.

My browser freezes and crashes altogether WITHOUT an error message whenever
I load a page thats a .pdf file.

No error message appears at all. It just keeps functioning as if it had
never had the browser open at all.

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this.

Try re-installing Adobe Acrobat Reader. Recently, a new version came
out: 6.0. A re-install might help fix a corrupted plug-in in your IE
folder.

Otherwise, can you launch Acrobat before you click on a PDF link and see
if that works? Sometimes pre-loading Acrobat helps with integration
issues with certain web browsers.
