Hi,
Recently, I install a new software, it crashed my IE, I
can't even open my IE, it just close itself without any
reason. Is it possible to reinstall the IE? Thanks.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

To reinstall Internet Explorer, copy/paste this line into a start/run
prompt:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
%windir%\Inf\ie.inf

An alternative to the "run" command method. Try going to
the microsoft site and install IE6 close out when it tells
you that you already have it installed and install cannot
continue. Make sure you note where you downloaded the IE
installer to
Go>start\regedit and hit ok now navigate this route.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InstalledComponents
and locate{89820200-ECBD-11CF-8B85-00AA005B4383} and click
on it. Now locate IsInstalled in the right panel and right
click on it and then click modify and set it to 0 . Now go
into your services and stop the cryptographic service.
Then go into windows\system32 and locate CatRoot and
CatRoot2 and rename them. Something like CatRootold and
CatRoot2old Then restart the Cryptographic service. Now go
to where you downloaded the IE installer and click on it
to activate it. Once you have it installed then reboot and
you will have a new catroot and catroot2. For the time
being you can leave the renamed ones alone. After about a
week of using the computer and everything seems stabel in
IE then you can delete them. I only give this alternative
as I haven't had much luck with the run line method. Have
fun.

I'm sorry, but why would anyone want to download something they already
have? That would be a huge waste of time, and it's pointless. The only time
that would be useful is if the user does not have access to their WinXP CD
or the I386 folder the preinstallers place on the system.

Want an easier alternative? Sure, just locate the ie.inf file under
C:\Windows\Inf, right-click it and choose install.
