Matt

I was having trouble with Internet Explorer 6.0 and bad
plugins or something of that sort so I got online support
and they recommended reinstalling. It worked for about 2
days and now everytime I use Internet Explorer withing the
first 5 seconds it freezes up and ceases to work. How
would I go about solving this problem. If I just have to
reinstall IE how do I uninstall it first. I'm about
getting to the point where I'm tempted to do a total
system restore.

Matt,

Same problem here. None of this started to happen until
I downloaded the patches to prevent the worm blaster from
getting to my computer. No viruses and I'm running a
firewall and anit-virus. Hope someone can help.

It may be you are low on system memory. I had much the
same problem, the system locking up a lot; even
Ctl+Alt+del didn't help; I had to restart without closing
down first.

If your system is on approx 64 MB of RAM, that is quite
low nowadays. I suggest the following:

Do you download a lot from the net? If so, all these
downloads are being stored as "temporary internet files",
which you must clear regularly. To do this:

My computer > right click on C Drive > properties >
Disk cleanup > ensure "temp internet files" box is
selected > OK > Yes to delete

If you are on the PC every day, and download a lot, I
suggest you do the disk cleanup DAILY.

Good luck.

Stuart, thanks for your input.
We are having the same problem, with a brand new computer
2.5 GHz HP with lots of RAM. Internet explorer freezes up
after the second or third website. We are running a Pop
up stopper program and I suspect that may be our problem.
Deleting temporary files does give temporary relief.
