internet explorer cant view secure webpages

my problem seems to be unique. i cant get on to any secure sites eg. hotmail.
i have gone through all the help txt on microsoft.com and some other help sites and i have even asked tech help people in my company no one can help me. this problam is also affecting my msn messenger and i recently installed norton anti-virus and it didnt work at all i tried it on a different computer and it worked fine. when i try to run norton it tells me i have a problem with my activex for internet explorer. im running internet explorer 6 sp1 on windows xp. if you have any idea what my problem is please e-mail me @ (e-mail address removed) because i dont check these boards to often

Try this, your security settings may have been
inadvertently changed as mine were.

Go to Tools. Click on Internet Options. Click on the
Advanced tab. Scroll down to Security. Make sure that
ALL of the following boxes are checked off: _Use SSL 2.0,
_Use SSL 3.0, _Use TLS 1.0

For some stupid reason, the security setting was changed
WITHOUT my knowledge. Good luck!
