I am running web based software that requires "Java 2 Runtime
Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1_15". My browser is of course
IExplorer 6. I install "Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition
v1.3.1_15" and everytime i try to run the web page it closes. Also the
java icon in the system tray does not show up. Nor when I click Java
in the control panel does it open anything up. If you have any ideas or
any helpful information it would be much appriciated.

Thank You

Uninstall it and redownload/install Java,

Start IE and select Tools->Internet Options from the menu and a dialog
window will open. It contains a row of tabs. Click on Advanced; the
rightmost one.

The application will now list a number of settings. You need to scroll down
to the one entitled "Java (Sun): Use JRE 1.x.x for <applet>. Select the
check box.

Under it, there's a section of settings with the title Microsoft VM. Uncheck
all of the boxes there.

Close the dialog window and restart.

Did this help?
