Over the weekend, we got slammed hard with this Randex worm. Since then, in
the process of cleaning up the servers, have a few that are doing peculiar
things. I am unable to get Internet Explorer to launch at all. you can see
the process start, then it gets shut down. There are no errors in the event
log. Also, when I try to open My COmputer to go into the c drive, it blanks
the whole screen and then starts back up again. Also, in safe mode, the
winlogon service stop every 30 seconds and then restarts, so I am unable to
browse the c drive there either except in Command Prompt.

HELP!

Flatten and rebuild. You can't trust it.

I'll bet you use a 12 lb sledge hammer to kill ants, too.

If you can use a stand alone version of Partition Magic or equivalent,
make a small paritition and install a minimal Windows in it. Get
www.avast.com , the free personal edition. Install and run it. It will
check all parititions including your infected one. Only after you are
certain all virus are gone should you copy files out of that paritition
or boot it.

PM doesn't support servers but it's moot since I wouldn't trust an infected
server until it was rebuilt no matter the situation.
