Matt

I work for SBC installing DSL and have been running into
a problem with not being able to browse. I can ping sites
but I cant browse with IE or any other browser.I have
unistalled and reinstalled IE and have reset the advanced
settings to their defaults but this hasnt worked either.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers hasnt done it
either. I suspect this is a corrupt sys file but dont
know which one or how to fix it. In all cases I have been
able to browse using my laptop, this occurs with routers
or single pppoe accounts.
Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Check your system for "hijackware":

Dealing with Hijackware

CoolWebSearch Chronicles

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?

Hello, I've posted a similar message twice. I have a
PPPoE account with AOL and it goes thru a router.
However, I can browse even with AOL off, but I can't get
EBay. If you do solve the problem, please reply to my
lilangels9398 post that is posted a few minutes after
yours...Thanks

Matt,
If you're still following this thread...
Try this next time: LSP-Fix (A free program to repair damaged Winsock 2
stacks) http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Damaged winsock stacks appear to be a common problem due to malware and some
of the removal programs.
