Internet Explorer 6

It seems more and more lately, while I'm browsing the
internet, that interenet explorer gets an error and needs
to be shut down. I'll be prompted to send an error
report, which I do, then I'll either let IE restart
automatically or I'll just open it myself. I figured I'd
try both ways to see if one ends up working more than the
other. It started doing this a couple of months ago and
has gotten progressively worse. Everything is up to date
with IE 6 as well as Windows 2000. My computer has been
defragmented and I run disc clean-up often (not that I
know that has anything to do with this problem). Is there
anything I can try to limit the amount of times this
happens? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe something with IE has gotten borked somehow. Repairing the installation of IE might be a solution for you. Check in Add/Remove Programs for a listing for IE. Clicking the Change/Remove button will give you the option to "Repair"; select repair and click ok.

I tried that but it doesn't give me an option to repair.
I'm only prompted to uninstall IE6. In the add/remove
programs, it is listed as "Internet Explorer Q828750"
instead of just Internet Explorer 6. Do you think this
has anything to do with the problem?

I also have "Internet Explorer Q828750", but I believe it was a critical update. Maybe the reason I have IE in my Add/Remove Programs list is because it's been patched; mine shows as "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1". I haven't tried this myself, but maybe you could go to "Add/Remove Windows Components", remove IE, and add it back. You could also have a software conflict, or maybe some malware. Try running Spybot Search and Destroy and see if it comes up with anything.
