internet explorer 6. unable to open second window

everytime I try to open a window using a link in an
existing window, it starts to open then does nothing
leaving me with a window filled with blank space.

what can I do to fix this.

I'm running windows xp
 
URLs/ Links not opening in internet explorer.

There are also a some other important dlls that needs to be registered. They
are :

1. Click [Start] [Run] type:

(Press Enter after each command)
Regsvr32 /i URLMON.DLL
Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Regsvr32 oleaut.dll
Regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

2. Restart Windows
3. Open IE [Tools] [nternet Options] [Programs] [Reset Web Settings]

If this does not help, run this fix: Based on MSKB article:

This solution fixed multiple problems with my laptop running XP Home, i.e.,
unable to open search window from start menu, unable to open linked windows
within web sites, and inablility to open certain web sites such as
google.com. Thank you!!!

I tried this but got oleaut.dll was "not found" while the
others succeeded. I ran the fix from the file below and
that fixed it. I also cleaned unknown files using Ad-aware
from Lavasoft and ran LSPfix. Thanks for the help.
