Internet Explorer 6 Not Detected

I have a Windows 2000 machine with a spyware infection. MS Anti Spyware will
not load. It says that IE 6 must be installed. The machine has IE 6 SP1
installed with all updates. Any suggestions? I have tried to re run the
install of IE 6 with no change in symptoms.
