Hi there,

I am running Wins XP Pro and IE6SP2 and The problem that
I am having is that I can open internet explorer and I
can browse the net without any issues. However when I
click a link that opens a new window the new window opens
but it hangs and nothing will load into it.I can copy the
link as a shortcut, open another IE window and paste it
but it is getting kind of annoying. I have tried the fix
that is on the support.microsoft.com website "modifying
the reg key and trying to reinstall IE 6.0" and I get an
error message that the software that Im trying to install
does not pass the microsoft standards and then it closes
without installing anything. I have searched high and low
for any kind of pop up blockers, and im a little
concerned about installing SP2, I am reading through
these threads and trying to find a solution without
having to reformat, any help would be appreciated.

Hi again,

Another thing to add is that I do not have the Internet
Explorer in add/remove programs to try and revert to a
previous version or to try and repair it, if theres a way
to makeit show up in add/remove so I can run those
utils , maybe that would work???

I have the same problem with my IE6SP2. It just happened
after I've instaled the SP2 for the XP Pro. I've seen that
the problem is related to open a pop-up window when the
pop-up blocker is turned off (the IE takes a long time
hanged and at the end no pop-up window is opened).

When I visit the MS update site , it prompts me everytime
to install SP2, I have declined to do so, and from what i
can tell there isnt any pop up software on my pc...
