Hi,

I am using Internet Explorer 6 on a Windows 2003 server machine. I am
unable to browse any webpages(.htm, .aspx, .asp) using the browser.
Upon launch of any page, it would recognised as a file download
instead, with options to open or save. This occurs when I browse files
both on the Internet and the local IIS web server.

1= First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on content Tab then click AutoComplete Button and there click to clear
the Forms and Passwords.
Close the IE Properties and Hit F5 to refresh, try to open a page, does it
download or open normal?.
HTH.
Let us know.

Hi Nass,

Thanks for the reply. But i am unable to get into the Intenet Options
page from the browser itself. When i clicked on it, nonthing happens,
all the menu options from the browser fails to execute.

I have even tried to access the Internet Options page from the control
panel, but it only presented me with only four tabs (Security,
Connections, Programs and Advanced) instead of the usual 7. I have
also tried to remove Internet Explorer completely and reinstall to no
affect.

Then try to scan your computer for malwares and Viruses with an up2date
software.
Then Run Disk Clean Up and Defrag in safe Mode.
Are you the admin of this machine?.
