When I am on the internet I get an error message that say
Internet Explorer 6 has encountered a problem and must
close. Any idea what the problem could be? I searched
technet but found nothing and also looked in Microsoft
Knoweldge Base but turned up nothing as well. Is there a
patch for this? If there is a patch which one is it?
Please advise.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

In the Error -Reporting dialog, click "To see what data this report
contains" and note down the MODNAME. Post back here. Meanwhile, try this:

==Step 1==
Disable the tool bands and Browser Helper Objects features:

Close all instances of Internet Explorer
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Internet Options.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
Restart Internet Explorer.

==Step 2==
Additionally, use BHODaemon and disable unwanted browser helper plugins:
http://www.webattack.com/get/bhodaemon.shtml

==Step 3==
Run Ad-Aware and remove the malware products from the system. Download from
www.lavasoftusa.com

==Step 4==
Reset Web Settings:

Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs > "Reset Web Settings"
Click the Search button in the toolbar > Customize > AutoSearch Settings >
Select a provider from the list.
