as of yesterday, my internet explorer 6.0 will not work.
Everytime I try to get to the internet, it tells me that
it has received and error and must shut down. I hav enot
downloaded anything in weeks. It worked fine yesterday
morning. I ran a Norten virus scan and didn't find any
viruses. I am running XP, with all updates applied.
HELP??

See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Then...
Run CWShredder from http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html It's been
the most helpful with this type of problem. CWShredder is only about 125 KB
so it could be downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk if
necessary.

Search for and remove other malware and note the security tips at:

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

Don
