When I attempt to load IE 6.0 I get a Visual C++ Runtime Library error
message "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an
unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more
information".
I have tried to repair IE 6.0 but repair option is not available as I get an
error message as soon as I try to run the install program that says there is
a newer version already installed. I have followed teh technical documents
and changed the registery entry for IE 6.0 to say it is not installed but
still get this message. Any ideas how I fix this?

Hi Ray,

More than likely this error is not being caused by IE but rather by an
Add-In that you have installed. Do a virus and malware scan before you take
any further action.

Oh. for more info search this newsgroup for Visual C++, you will find plenty
of previous posts that have addressed this issue.

Regards.

THANKS Rob, I will do some further investigation. I have subseqnetly worked
oiut that if I browse from My Computer Internet Explorer works fine. Also
does if I login as another user.

Hi Ray,
Yep, from your description it is definately an add-in. From memory the
Google toolbar reported a similar error with the VC++ runtime. If installed
check for the latest update from Google as they recently released v4.

A quick test for faulty add-ins is to disable them - Tools>Internet
Options - Advanced tab - uncheck "Enable third-party browser helpers", then
restart IE to see if the errors persist.

Always keep your machine up-to-date with Windows updates. You may like to
check with http://www.microsoft.com/downloads for the latest optional free
software to keep your machine virus and malware free.

Regards.

Uninstall the Google toolbar.
