I have IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2 with some additional
numbers. I think it's corrupted. When I try to empty my
history file using Internet Options/Clear History, it
doesn't delete any files. A poster yesterday said that I
may need to re-install IE, which I did from the MS
website. It still doesn't work.

Also, I have started having a lot of pop-ups and error
messages with IE.

How do I re-install it, or rest the History folder somehow?

Thanks a million.

As an one-time procedure, delete the History folder and index.dat:

Sounds to me like you might have some spyware on your
system. I encountered something very similar last year.
Two really good products that are actually free are
Spybot and Ad-Aware....Spybot can be downloaded from
www.cnet.com and Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Just
like antivirus products though you must keep it up to
date and scan your system occassionally.
