Help: (IExplore6.0 w/ Windows xp pr

I Evidently dow nloaded a virus and cannot stop its
attack.

I have used Symantec Virus Shield and the files are in
quarantine - cannot do more harm but cannot be deleted
for some reason.

I have performed a cold boot -(in diagnostic mode) and
the problem still persists.

Checked my registers - It appears the virus is changing
the regiser in my Current User DEFAULT pAGE url AND START
pAGE & AND THE SAME REGISTERS ON MY lOCAL MACHINE.

Even after I clear the registers the problem reappears
once I run internet explorer. I can change to another
page using intern et options but once I run it once the
default location is changed back. Ughhh

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
