I am having a problem with IE that I can't seem to
resolve. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition.
When I have IE open and I type a URL into the address bar,
the machine locks up and invariably forces me to reboot.
I think that there is a corrupted or missing file from IE
that is causing this problem. I tried to download a new
version of IE from the Microsoft website but I get a
message that tells me that my version is newer than the
d/l and it won't allow the d/l. IN an effort to get
around this, I d/l and installed Netscape on my computer
so that I could remove the previous IE from my computer
and install a new working program. However, when I to to
control panel/add-remove programs and try to eliminate IE
(Q813489), the computer won't let me do this either due to
a system error. So therein is the problem... my current
version doesn't work... I can't install an "older" version
to replace it, AND I can't remove the non-functional
version due to a system error (maybe the one that is
causing this whole problem). Any suggestions out there..??
Thanks in advance.... Jeff
