When I open IE6 or click on the Home Page Icon when in IE6 the specified
default page in Internet Options is not displayed. Instead the page displayed
is shown as http://updatescenter.com/ even though http://www.microsoft.com is
the Home Page shown in Internet Options.

This became a problem after I installed SP2 for Win XP and decided to update
the virus controls on my system.

I have been unable to stop this page appearing and wanted some advice on how
I can get rid of it once and for all.

First eliminate any spyware.

CAUTION!!!!! Removing some spyware can damage the Winsock stack and you may
not be able to connect to the Internet. Before you try to remove spyware,
download a copy of LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2
stacks (all Windows versions) for use AFTER cleaning out the spyware.
