Help! I have tried everything that I can think of and can't fix this. When I
try to email a photo from "My pictures" I get a message saying " couldn't
read your Internet E-mail profile. Pleas exit , delete current profile and
create new one" I have done what I think it is asking and still get this
message. What's going on? It used to work. I think I must have changed
something when I put Office 2000 on and then uninstalled it. Any ideas?

What's supposed to happen when you try to email a photo (e.g., an Outlook Express message should open with the picture attached)?

When I click on "Send this picture by email" a window opens up and asks if I
want to resize the picture. When I click on yes that's when a window opens
up and asks for a profile. There are two choices. One my name and the other
Outlook express. I have tried both and get the same message both times. "
Couldn't read your Internet Email profiel. Please exit, delete current
profile and create new one" I have tried that and still nothing works.

If you want all such messages to open in OE:

2b. (WinXP) [Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs >] Set Program Access and

If still no joy, see:

Thanks for trying to help me. Unfortunatly I am not that knowledgeable in
computerese. I tried the first suggestion and I had already done that
(making OE the default). When I typed in the string in "run", an error
message came up saying that it could not access that file and to check if I
typed it in correctly. I think that I am missing a path but do not know how
to fix that. I am a little afraid to fool with the registry.

MH,

Run these commands, exactly as given below:

"%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /REG

and then run:

regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msoe.dll"

Outlook Express registration should be fixed now. Now, follow the steps from
Robear's latest post (Set Program Access and Defaults) to set Outlook
Express as the default (again).

opens
up and asks for a profile. There are two choices. One my name and the
other Outlook express. I have tried both and get the same message both
times. " Couldn't read your Internet Email profiel. Please exit,
delete
current profile and create new one" I have tried that and still nothing
works.

Any ideas?

Thanks for trying. I tried running both as written and got an error message
saying windows could not find the file. I think I will just give up and
resize my pictures in my photo program and forget it.

MH,

Run these commands, exactly as given below:

"%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /REG

and then run:

regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msoe.dll"

Outlook Express registration should be fixed now. Now, follow the steps from
Robear's latest post (Set Program Access and Defaults) to set Outlook
Express as the default (again).

Hi! Thanks for trying I tried the 1st fix and "read only was already
blank" On the second fix, It is a little to advanced for my knowledge and I
don't feel comfortable changing the registry. I would be afraid of messing
up worse than it already is. I believe that this problem is not that
important in the whole picture, so I might as well just give up and resize
the pictures I want to send in an email with my photo program.

Did you run Fixmapi.exe?

Yes, that is what I meant when I said that "in the 1st fix" All the "read
only" boxes are not checked

...so I might as well just give up and resize
the pictures I want to send in an email with my photo program.

1. What "photo program" is it, MH? (Some of these programs require a "Full
MAPI" Mail Client; OE is a "Simple MAPI" Mail Client.)

2. If you temporarily disable the "resize my pictures" option, does this
behavior persist?

269. _Disable_ or _Enable_ Resize Graphic - Send To
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Download both of the above files and save them to, e.g., a folder on your
desktop > Double-click on resizedisable.reg to Disable this feature;
double-click on resizeenable.reg to re-enable it.

Can you post the *exact* error message? There might be a typo.
