internet disconnected - not an auto redialer (something similar ?)

Does anyone know of a prog I could use for automatically restarting my
system once it recognizes my cable modem has frozen (crashes due to another
prog).

It must be restarted - not reconnected.

Time for a reset. I've heard nothing about freeware for ages - just
Blinky the Jellyfish and Vic Dura the pest - business as usual, but
nothing to do with freeware.
 
I don't know if it will work with a cable modem but for prevention of
dial-up disconnections I have been using ISPs NIGHTMARE:
