Hi, have just upgraded from ME to XP, on a Pentium 1002Mhz with 256 ram, and IE/OE 6. After 5-10 minutes of using the computer all just seizes up, and even trying to use the 'end now' tab doesn't work ... having to restart all the time, which is a real pain! Everything else is working fine, all the tests come up fine. Am using ntl broadband, and have checked all of that, done all those tests too. Puzzled! Happened before installed ZoneAlarm free firewall. Haven't as yet installed anti-virus [Norton 2004], but wondering if problem could be a virus? Thanks in advance for any help. Regards, Cat

This sounds like the old blaster worm. It will affect the RPC service. Never go on line without some sort of virus protection. You're just asking for trouble. Do a search for an on line virus scan and let it do it's thing. {:~)

Thanks for response. Yes, turns out was Jeefo on the loose: wrecked system, so've done format, reinstallings and sorted anti-virus asap! :-)

There are three types of people in computing, those that can count and those that can't.
