My server says there is nothing wrong with the their
service and yet I keep being frequently timed out. Tech
support at my server says that Zone Alarm or Norton System
Works could be the reason and yet it all seems in order.

Are there settings in XP that I'm unaware of? i had no
problems with '98

"Timed out" of what? Your connection, or does this occur when sending
email? You're not real specific, and this group needs specifics to help
you.

However, I will say that if you have Norton set to scan your email before
sending or receiving, this could be causing an email time-out. Disable all
email scanning, reboot the computer, then see what happens. That could be
what they were referring to, just weren't complete or clear enough in what
they meant.
