Internet Connectivity Issue

After my computer has remained on for around 48-72 hours, it loses all
internet connectivity, both in IE and in Outlook, along with all other
programs. Prior to that time, it works fine. If I reboot, it goes back to
working fine for that period of time. I have noticed I can shorten or
lengthen the time that it remains active by what programs I launch, primarly
AIM and iTunes. If I do not use either of those, it can stay up for around 4
days, if I use them both it goes down to 2 days.

Around 2-3 months ago my computer began to do this. I have been
troubleshooting on and off since then, but since it was not to any extreem
yet I was not too concerned. However, recently the problem has been
progressing. It started with it doing this around every 7 days, so I could
live with it. However, I do not like rebooting my computer every other day,
so I am hoping to resolve this.

System information in this picture:

I connect to the internet via Cable, and I am connected to my home network
via Ethernet. However, it does not appear to be a TCP/IP issue, because
internal communications are still accessible. My network icon remains in the
tray, and it shows data movement when I use the internal network. I have
tried repairing the problem using Windows built-in diagnostics, to no avail.

Here is the results of Internet Explorer's diagnostic program, copied from
the log file(picture of results below).

#- Try to Power or unplug the Power cord for the Router/Modem for about 40
seconds then turn the computer OFF for the same amount of time and wait for
the time to go by!!.
Then Turn the Router/Modem ON and wait a minute or so then Power ON the
computer and try to establish a connection and try the link, does it work?.

HTH,

Hi
Do you have a Router?
If you do make sure that the WAN port is configured to be always alive.

It is not a browser third party app problem, because it does the same thing
with outlook, Chrome, and any other internet-accessing application. I posted
what happens when I try to manipulate the network card in command when it is
in the mentioned mode, please look at the pictures. I have Ad-Aware, Spybot
S&D, and Symantec Client Firewall and Antivirus. All come up clean. It is not
a router issue, because as mentioned no other computers on the network are
effected. I have tried using a different port on the switch.

Please read above post referring to router and it's functionality.

3 day bump.

The error in the Image show that your machine not getting an Auto IP address
from the router, try to Enable the DHCP to assign an Auto IP for the machine.
By going to the Router Browser page and enable the DHCP.

Try this first:
Open Run then Type these commands and Reboot your machine.

netsh winsock reset catalog

netsh int ip reset reset.log

How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server
2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259

Do you have 2Wire by any chance?

And tell us about your network setup and did this happened after an update
or new software being installed.
Did you tried Restore Point from system Restore?

I do not have DHCP enabled, I use a static address. So, I would not think
that would be the issue. I checked the Winsock catalog, it all seems to be in
order.

My network setup is My computer>LinksysWRG54TS Router/Cable modem. No
external switches or hubs involved. On the network is also another computer,
run the same way. Wireless is built into the router, so no access point is
present.

This just began happening, nothing had changed. As stated, it began a long
time ago, but has been gradually getting worse.

Try to renable the DHCP and let the machines get the Auto IP address from
the Router.
To do that try to type the Router IP address in the address bar: 192.168.1.1
Make sure the DHCP enabled then go tom the Machines Adapters/NIC properties
and make them assigned an Auto IP and DNS addresses.

Let us know your progress.

What is the idea behind this? I would just as soon not have DHCP enabled, as
it is one more thing for someone else to figure out if they manage to connect
to my network. I do have some level of experience in networking and computer
management/maintenance, I am not a typical end-user.

I do not see what having the router assign me an address will gain us in
this situation, however if I am missing something, please fill me in.

Your problem in your DNS. If you tried to assign An Auto IPs then after
making sure all working, you can try to assign Static IPs again!

I can't see a problem in a ssigning an Auto IP nor Static but for
troubleshooting scenario we want to make sure the DNS is working and did you
assign the DNS or been given Auto by the Router?
