internet connection

I use Windows XP and Explorer 6. About every other week,
suddenly I can not get online for about 3 days. Then
suddenly, I just get back online and everything is working
fine. I have a DSL connection and I am networked to my
husband's computer. My husband can get online. I can
receive emails, but I can not log onto Internet Explorer.
The message says unable to locate server. My ISP says
there is no problem on their end, they said maybe I need a
new ethernet card so I installed a new ethernet card, no
luck. They said to buy a new cable, did that, no luck. I
plugged into the port my husband uses, still no
connection. I did a restore back to a time before I had
the problem, still could not get online. I have no
connection right now, but probably in a day or two, I will
be able to connect again. There is no rhyme or reason to
this. My ISP says there is probably some glitch between
Internet Explorer and Windows XP. Can anyone help me.

I am having a similar problem but i have no IE but can
ping out..can you ping out?

I need to reinstall or repair IE 6 (XP Pro PC) and have no
clue how to do that without the ability to download???
any help?

me..last time i put the real email address it was slamed
with spam...thanks
