How did you access the Internet previously? Do you use a proxy server? Is
IE configured to use it?

I did not change any of the settings when I made the
upgrade. IE worked fine before the upgrade and now,
nothing. We have a DSL connection. We don't use a proxy
server. Hope that helps.

Are you using a static IP or a DHCP IP? Can you ping your default gateway?
Can you ping your DNS server?

Honestly, i'm not sure. When i set it up i asked it to
detect all of the settings automatically.

What would you suggest I try doing. My connection seems
fine, since i can access other computers on the LAN.
Every other computer is online and working perfectly.
This is the only computer that is using Win2000. thanks

Check to see if you have the correct Gateway settings
On one of your other Win2k machines, go to
Control Panel | Network and Dialup
Right-click on Local Area Network and choose Properties
On Component TCP/IP, Choose Propertie
Write down the DNS Server setting, and the Default Gateway setting, and put those exact numbers into your new Win2k machine, by following the same process above

If your other machine is a Win9x box, you access the network settings slightly differently.

This is the only Win2k machine that we have on the
network. we are running mostly XP and 98. I am slowly
updating the 98 machines to 2k....this was the first and
it didn't go that smooth. Can i use the TCP/IP info from
one of the XP or 98 machines????
