hello

after sucessfully installing Vista on my computer i noticed that internet
connection is acting weird.

current setup is
medium lan network (20 workstations)
Cisco 831 Router
D-link 24 port switch
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit ethernet NIC

problem:
my LAN access and things are working propertlly, but all internet activities
run extremly slow and after some time it times out.
for example when i start IE it normally opens live search page (which is set
as default), but if i try to open www.microsoft.com it connects to the
server, starts downloading the site and after maybe 2-3 seconds it stops
loading (IE still shows as it is downloading web site). Basicaly what i get
is only downloaded first few images and things from the website and it
stops.
This happenes to all websites that have more content then google or live
search websites.

This isn't only IE problem it's all other applications. For instance, i
tried to download newsgroups into windows mail. It starts downloading
available newsgroups.. it downloads 27 of them then it takes few seconds to
get few more and at some point it stops and i get timed out message asking
if i want to wait or stop... waiting doesn't help since it comes up again in
a minute.

So this brings me to one conclusion that all my internet activities are
suspended after i receive first few kb of data from the internet (at least
from that host) or something like that.

I tried following solutions (with no luck of getting to work):
tried disabling IPv6
tried disabling Link-Layer
tried "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" command
tried reinstalling drivers for my NIC

thanks

Sergej

I'm seeing the same problem here. I'm testing Vista on my work network, and
normal LAN related activities are fast and normal, but any internet is
extremely slow or times out. Here's the interesting part, we have 2 networks
at work, one for employees, and an isolated network for guest access to the
internet, which is also still behind a NAT firewall. When I attach the Vista
loaded PC to the Guest network, all internet activity is fast as it should
be, but when I switch it to our internal LAN, the internet is non-existent at
best.

Any ideas?

ok i found a solution

right-click on cmd.exe
select to run it as administrator
and execute this command "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled"
without quotes ofcorse.

that helped me sort it out.

Sergej

are you running any type of web caching at work, I have the same problem
with websites that are cached on port 80. if i connect to a non cached
website (ie 443) i have speedy response. not sure why vista has this
problem. I have IE7 running on a XP machine wih no problem. I will conduc
some packet captures from XP and Vista to ascertain any differences in data
calls.
