I don't think so - it was working initially and it still
works to see the rest of the network. I can copy files,
print - that type of stuff. If I go to the network
connections I see an internet connection gateway and a
lan / high speed internet connection. The wireless lan
card works fine. The status of the internet gateway is
diabled and it won't connect - it trys and fails. It's
like it thinks that is the only way to the internet and
won't use the wireless card. I tried resetting TCP/IP
bases on an article I found online about the netsh
command. The command worked but the internet gateway is
still disabled. I don't think I should even be seeing it.
It should just go to the internet on the wireless card. I
even tried completely re-installing xp - unfortunately it
saves all the settings. I can't wipe it and start over
because I only have an upgrade copy of XP.
thanks,
gr

Even so, a firmware update might be the trick.

Is your router a Linksys? You might need to update its
firmware.

yes I am - I can see my other networked computers so I
know I am getting to the gateway (wireless dlink on the
problem computer) but the internet gateway stays
disabled
it starts to connect then goes disabled but provides no
error message. If I try to set up another connection I
go
thru the wizard but never get anything else - it's
seems
like it thinks there is another internet connection
(that
doesn't work) and I can't make it use the wireless card
for internet access.
I have even reinstalled XP but it apparently saves the
settings and I ended up the same as when I started.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
gail

Are you referring to the Internet Gateway icon?
That's
not ICS, it
represents your router.

How do I disable this??
I only have one adapter and it thinks it owns it. I
can't
connect to the internet anymore.l I think my son
accidentally enabled ICS and I can't find info on
how
to
make it stop. My internet gateway status is disabled
even
though I can connect to my home network.
Help
