Hi,
Here's my computers' detail:
Computer A:
OS = WinXP
Inside a workgroup
This is the one which connect to the internet
LAN IP address = 192.168.0.1

Computer B:
OS = Win2000 Server (have a DNS server installed)
Inside a domain (previously joined the same workgroup as computer A)
LAN IP address = 192.168.0.2

I am just wondering how come computer B is not inside the same workgroup
as computer A but it still can go online? Is that because they are in the
same subnet? So is that mean I don't really need to join the workgroup or
domain and both computer still can go online? Thx.

Adrian

Computers on the same subnet can communicate fine whether they are in a domain
or workgroup as long as there are no domain ipsec or smb policies that would
restrict access. Workgroups are mainly for browsing convenience and domains for
centralized user and policy management. --- Steve
