Hi,...I am getting ready to network 2 computers at home using a hub and the
built in connection software with XP. I want my computer to be the server, I
know my computer will have to be on for the other 2 to have access, but does
mine have to be logged on?...or can it just sit there at the login
screen?....thanks rick

It can just sit there at the logon screen, if you're on a broadband
connection. If not, someone else that uses dial up may be able to give you
more information.

thanks doug

I'd invest in getting a router if you are on Broadband. Linksys and D-
Link have them for under a $100 and they are very easy to setup. Best of
all, you dono't have to have one machine on for the other to access the
net ( Re-booting to install software on the host really pisses off people
surfing the net on the client. )

If you have one on XP & another on 98 or XP it is very easy to set it up
with a crossover cable. Yes the first (host) needs to be connected to the
internet. You can set it up so that if you aren't on the net & you want to
access the net from the second comp, it will wake up the host & tell it to
log on.
If more than one slave, then go hub route...........
