Please could you help me I am at a loss for what to do.
I have a broadband connection, via a USB modem on my
WinXPHome PC. This PC is linked through a hub to a WinXP
Prof PC and a WinME PC.

On my WinXP Home PC everything works fine.

On my WinXP Prof PC I can access nearly all websites, but
some will not load up, for example ebay.com and disney.com

But on my WinME PC, I cannot access the internet at all.
The computer has recognised the internet connection and
the icon appears on the taskbar as if I am connected, but
still Internet Explorer fails to recognise/use this
connection.

This has really stumped me. I am not using a firewall at
the moment. Please could you give me some suggestions
and feel free to ask if you need any more information.

Thanks a load,
Andy

Do you accidently have a crossover cable connected? Are
the machines getting networking info via DCHP? check to
see if they are getting teh gateway, dns and ip info.

This is a common problem with DSL connections that use PPP Over
Ethernet (PPPoE). Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them
should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computers, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computers, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:
