Jim

I am trying to setup a home network with XP Pro on the
main computer, W2K on the 2nd, Win 98 on the 3rd & 4th.

All computers are in the same workgroup and can see each
other and transfer data between each other.

The Main computer (XP) is set with a TCP/IP of 192.168.0.1
all the others are set with:
192.168.0.2
192.168.0.3
192.168.0.4

All have a class C subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Everything works...Until I try to setup ICS. (It use to
work, but won't now)...

I get an error message as I try to start it that says:

"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was
being enabled.

The Service cannot accept control messages at this time".

Any help is appreciated. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled my USB adapter and the software. I have set
the other computers to automatically obtain their TCP/IP
settings and put them back.

"Thank You In Advance!"

I assume that you are running all 4 machines through a
hub make sure that the preferred gateway is set to
192.168.0.1 on the other 3 machines and that the preferred
dns is also set to 192.168.0.1for those other 3 machines..

Good luck

Yes, all the machines are running through a hub.
The problem that I'm having is that I get an error message
when I try to initiate ICS on the main computer.

As for the computers being able to communicate with each
other, they do that ok.

I just can't figure out why I get the following error
message with ICS.

"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was
being enabled. The Service cannot accept control messages
at this time".

check the knowledgebase - this one is handled pretty good
there. search on the exact text of the error message
and/or it number, if available. also check
practicallynetworked.com, in the troubleshooting section.
