Internet Connection Sharing No Longer Works

With 4 locally networked computers and one DSL connection, I have been
sharing the connection successfully until today. Today, the internet DSL
connection works; the local network works; but none of the client computers
can access the internet. I didn't change anything; I've verified that ICS
is enabled on the host computer, and have tried re-doing the sharing setup
using the XP wizard. No joy. I see others are also having problems.
Anyone know what's up?

Allan,

do you share files and folders as well? Does that still work?

Even if you get this problem solved, I would recommend to buy a
cheap WAN router, such as the SMC 7004 VBR, and use that instead
of ICS. It has a few advantages, like SPI (Stateful Packet
Inspection) firewall and the ability to access the Internet
while your primary computer is off.

I second that recommendation. A router is a fairly inexpensive piece of
hardware and it gives you a lot of advantages. Networking 2 or more PCs.
Sharing the Internet. A hardware firewall. Access control. Some have
built in parental controls. Well worth the purchase.
